This year we decided to save some money and head to the beach for the week. It’s the first time we’ve done that in I don’t know how long. We are incredibly fortunate to have a beautiful beach house to visit, courtesy of my parents. The forecast called for RAIN all week, but fortunately we had sun breaks on most days. We went down on Saturday, since both Kieran and Chris had rehearsals (Kieran for martial arts and Chris for the spring musical). Saturday night the boys spent assembling Nicholas’ new lego train. Here are some more photos of that evening:

On Sunday our friends Kristin and Roger and their kids joined us for a few nights, and on Monday we celebrated Mike’s birthday with them and some other friends (Tina, Gerald, and grandson Avery) who were staying in Oceanside. I made
mulligatawny for dinner, followed by flourless chocolate cake for the adults (and brownies for the kids):

Mike seemed to enjoy his birthday gathering. I gave him tickets to see “Sweet Honey in the Rock” in concert in a few weeks. Can’t wait!
