Here’s my guilty confession: I shopped in Old Navy last week and got some great bargains. But then I just read this article about a human rights group discovering that much of the clothing produced in Jordan (for Macy’s, Target, Kohl’s, and Hanes) is made by workers who are being abused–and in some cases, raped. And now I feel guilty.
Americans continue to want the cheapest price possible–on cotton clothing, electronics, chocolate, coffee–yet the workers in developing countries are paying the price. It’s like The Hunger Games trilogy brought to reality.
